One of our favorite places to go fishing for saltwater fish is in Lake Pontchartrain on the east side of the state.
There are several captains that navigate the waters of Lake Pontchartrain but we prefer Captain Kenny with Lake Pontchartrain Charters LLC. He is easy to talk to, always willing to show you the ins and outs of saltwater fishing, and can put you on fish in less than 15 minutes after getting in the boat.
Captain Kenny is licensed through the U.S. Coast Guard and a licensed guide through the LA Wildlife and Fisheries. He is the #2 State Record Holder for Speckled Trout, which is also the biggest recorded trout ever to come out of Lake Pontchartrain. The fish was caught Super Bowl Sunday 1999 and weighed in at 11.99 lbs. Captain Kenny was also a guide for WWL TV Channel 4 Fishin’ Game Report for 13 years. He has been featured on many local radio shows, seminars, and sportsman’s magazines. He has over 40 years of experience fishing Lake Pontchartrain and the adjoining water ways. He was taught by his father and uncle who were crab fishermen in the Lake for decades. Below is his preferred boat of choice.

Below are some pictures from a recent fishing trip with Captain Kenny.
We caught 50 speckled trout, 1 red fish, 3 sheephead, 1 black drum, and 7 large flounder in about 6 hour. It was a cool November morning and there were times when we had a fish on every pole. Definitely a trip worth taking.
