Professional Sporting Teams:
Kansas City boast several professional sporting teams like the Kansas City Royals (baseball), Sporting Kansas City (soccer), and the Kansas City Chiefs (football).
The Kansas City Royals have participated in the World Series four times. They have won two and lost two. The Royals were first victorious in 1985 against the St. Louis Cardinals. This game was often referred to as the “Show-me Series” or the “I-70 Showdown Series”. They went on to win the World Series again in 2015 against the New York Mets. The Royals lost the 1980 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies and the 2014 World Series against the San Francisco Giants. They are a hometown team that plays with true heart. The Royals mascot is called Slugger and their colors are royal blue and white.
The Kansas City Chiefs stadium is called Arrowhead Stadium which also represents their symbol. Arrowhead Stadium has been the Chiefs’ home since 1972 and is the 6th largest stadium in the NFL. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl IV in 1970 against the Minnesota Vikings at the Tulane Stadium in New Orleans, La. Their colors are red, yellow, and white. Their mascot is the Kansas City Wolf. Many fans tailgate all day to make their games a truly memorable event.

After a day of touring all the sport venues, be sure to grab some barbecue. Contrary to what people believe in Memphis and Texas, Kansas City is really the home of BBQ. Some of our favorite spots to eat are Smokin Guns BBQ in north KC, Smokebox, Gates BBQ, Jack Stack’s, and Plowboys barbeque. Kansas City barbeque Society host an annual competition where people gather from all over the United States to compete for the title of Best BBQ Sauce.
Arabia Steamboat Museum – The Steamboat Arabia sank near Kansas City on September 5, 1856 carrying 200 tons of mysterious cargo. Lost until 1988, the steamboat held the Arabia salvage artifacts that sunk on the Missouri River. Among the treasures found were clothes, tools, guns, dishware and more.
